When the guest WiFi drops on a Friday night or the front desk phones stop taking calls, it matters where your IT support is. A provider based two hours away usually means a ticket, a remote session, and if that doesn’t fix it, a technician who shows up tomorrow.
AutoSecure is based in Kitchener. We provide hotel IT support in Kitchener and across Waterloo Region and the surrounding area, and hospitality is the only industry we work in.
Hotel IT support in Kitchener and nearby areas
Waterloo Region:
- Kitchener
- Waterloo
- Cambridge
- Woolwich Township, including Elmira and St. Jacobs
- Wilmot Township, including New Hamburg and Baden
- Wellesley and North Dumfries, including Ayr
Nearby: Guelph, Fergus and Elora, Stratford, Woodstock, Brantford, and the rest of Southwestern Ontario. We also support hotels across the GTA and the Hamilton-Burlington area.
Why hotels here need a hospitality specialist
Waterloo Region’s hotel market is busy in ways that put real pressure on technology:
- Business travel. The tech sector, the universities and the manufacturing base bring steady weekday corporate guests. They work from their rooms, run video calls and expect WiFi that performs like an office connection.
- Event peaks. Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, university convocations, conferences and hockey tournaments can fill every hotel in the region at once. That’s exactly when an under-built network falls over. (We explain why in Why Hotel WiFi Slows Down When the Hotel Is Full.)
- A mix of property types. Branded hotels near the highways, independent and boutique properties, and historic inns in the townships each need a different approach. A historic building with thick stone walls needs a very different WiFi design than a new-build limited-service hotel. (See Technology Upgrades for Small, Boutique, and Historic Hotels.)
A general IT company can fix a laptop. A hotel needs someone who understands how the PMS, the door locks, the phones, the guest network and the payment terminals all fit together, and what breaks when one of them changes.
What we support
We cover the full technology stack for a hotel, so you have one number to call:
- Guest WiFi: design, installation and ongoing management, built for full-occupancy nights, not just an empty-hotel speed test.
- Phone systems: cloud PBX and on-premise systems, room phones, front desk, wake-up calls and PMS integration. (See Cloud PBX vs On-Premise: Choosing a Hotel Phone System.)
- PMS integration: keeping your property management system talking to your phones, locks, POS and TVs.
- Cybersecurity and PCI: segmented networks that keep guest traffic away from payment systems, locked-down vendor access, and staff awareness. (See PCI Compliance for Hotels and The Cyber Threats That Actually Target Hotels.)
- Managed IT: front desk and back-office computers, firewalls, switches, backups, monitoring and help desk. (See What Hotel Managed IT Services Actually Include.)
- Smart TVs, surveillance and structured cabling: including casting and guest-room TV upgrades. (See Upgrading to Hotel Smart TVs: What Actually Matters.)
Why local matters for a hotel
Most hotel IT issues can be handled remotely, and we do handle them that way whenever possible. But hotels regularly run into problems that need someone on site:
- A failed switch or access point that needs to be physically replaced
- A cabling fault behind a wall or in a ceiling
- A phone system that won’t come back up after a power outage
- A new PMS, lock or TV rollout that has to be coordinated with your staff and your guests
Being local also means we can walk your property before we recommend anything. We look at your building, your coverage dead zones and your equipment closets in person, rather than quoting from a floor plan.
Questions to ask any IT provider
Whether or not you work with us, these questions will tell you quickly if a provider actually understands hotels:
- Which PMS systems have you worked with? Can they name the one you use and explain how it connects to your phones and locks?
- How do you keep guest WiFi separate from our payment systems? The answer should mention segmentation and testing, not just “a separate password.”
- What happens at 10 PM on a Saturday? Who answers, and how quickly can someone be on site if needed?
- How do you handle vendor remote access? Always-on remote access with shared passwords is a red flag.
- Can you design for our busiest night? Ask how they size WiFi for full occupancy plus an event.
